U.S.S. Arizona Memorial Photos

The following photographs are those I took of the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial Park as well as the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial itself on the first full day I was in Hawai'i.

This is a map of how Pearl Harbor appeared moments before the attack. If you can make them out, the colours refer to how badly a ship was damaged. 

This is the same map as the previous picture but in a larger format for easier reading if you click on it, hopefully.
 

This is a map of how Pearl Harbor looked in 1988. There was no U.S.S. Missouri and no bridge to Ford Island. 

This is a whole series of plaques at the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial Park from various state organizations, mostly veterans, in memory of those who died aboard the vessel. 

This, and the next picture, is a memorial wall with the names of all those that died during the Japanese attack, actually, 2 waves of aircraft. Those inscribed in gold lettering earned the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest military award in the U.S. There were a few of them.

This is a 3D map of O'ahu and the dots indicate various military installations at the time of the attack. 

This is just a background shot of a mountain near Pearl Harbor. The Ford Island bridge is on the right side. 

This is a mock-up of the U.S.S. Arizona prior to its destruction. It is inside the museum at the memorial park. 

This and the next picture is a mural of the U.S.S. Arizona at the entrance to the memorial park.

This is a photo of a vessel docking at Pearl Harbor, showing that it is still a very active naval facility. 

This what you see taking the ferry to the U.S.S. Arizona memorial. The memorial is on the right and the U.S.S. Missouri is on the left. 

This is the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial. This structure sits right over the remains of the U.S.S. Arizona.

This is the entrance to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial looking outwards. You can see the ferry through the opening and there are memorial plaques flanking the entrance way. 

On either side of the entrance there are flags of various states and armed forces departments. This is one side. 

This is the other side.
